Dawleys in the Community

Proud to be a recognised contributor to the local community in Ross-on-Wye and the surrounding areas, Dawleys are passionate about making a positive impact. We aim to support local businesses and nearly half of our suppliers are within a 30-mile radius. We also aim to be an inclusive employer that offers excellent benefits and an exciting working environment.

Passionate about making a positive impact in Herefordshire

We are actively involved in local, community and charity events and schemes, making an impact locally as a business as well as a participator in Ross-on-Wye and the county.

EnviroAbility

Dawleys were delighted to be able to support local charity EnviroAbility to keep their Leisure Link project running. Based in Ross-on-Wye, Leisure Link is a weekly project of social events to integrate people with learning disabilities into the community. It offers a wide range of activities to suit everyone’s interests and abilities from walks or evening meals to cinema trips and more. Adults with disabilities can become isolated and the lack of affordable and regular transport makes getting out very difficult. The Leisure Link enables them to meet in a social environment that wouldn’t necessarily be possible for them. The charity also provides opportunities to learn social and money-handling skills, building confidence and self-esteem and giving them the experience and skills for a more independent lifestyle.

Christmas lights, trees and toys

Since Dawleys first switched on Christmas lights in 2018 we have taken great pride in our ever-growing displays of Christmas lights, which are a favourite drive-by of many local residents. But our Christmas light displays aren’t the only community involvement we have at this time of year. We have a fundraising Christmas tree in St Mary’s church, Ross-on-Wye which our Dawley elves beautifully decorate every time they go up.

Beyond the trees and lights, however, we go even deeper to support our community at Christmas and we raise funds every year for the Ross Food Bank as well as another charity. We usually choose a charity that gives presents to local children in hardship or the local hospice.

St Michael’s Hospice

St Michael’s Hospice is one of the local charities we love to raise money for to support the amazing work that the hospice has been offering free of charge to the local community since 1984 when it opened. One of our successful fundraisers for St Michael’s was a Mad Hatter’s tea party.

Staff wore fancy dress and eccentric hats, did a lot of cake eating and tea drinking alongside a raffle. We were able to raise an amazing sum for the hospice which provides such amazing care to those in their last moments or struggling with long-term issues. Their care requires £13,500 each day to cover their costs and nearly half of their income comes from charitable donations, so we were thrilled to make a contribution to help support such a worthwhile cause.

Hereford FC

Dawleys are proud to be the front of shirt sponsors of Hereford FC, faithfully supporting the club for many years since 2019. Initially, the shirts were for the men’s team but we were delighted to also sponsor the newly formed women’s team in 2023.

Sponsorship of the football teams shows our company's commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles as well as engagement with the local community. We also work with Hereford FC every year to put together an annual charity fundraiser – the Roger Parckar Memorial Cup – to raise money for a charity. This year we raised money for Macmillan. Dawleys is thrilled to be involved with such a popular group in the county’s community on several levels - continuing the legacy of our founder.
