Back in October, we hosted our fundraising event supporting Breast Cancer Now. The fundraising was spread across two days with our very own version of The Great British Bake Off and a Wear it Pink Day in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
With Breast Cancer Now having been a valued client of ours since 2012, it was an important fundraiser to help support the charity in the best way possible.
The Great Dawleys Bake Off
Thursday kicked off the first Great Dawleys Bake Off and generated plenty of excitement with 21 entries into the competition giving our judges a hard task in selecting the top 3 creations.
Up for the task as judges were members of the Dawleys team including Sally, Luke and Dave alongside special guests Neale and John. The baked goods were assessed based on appearance, texture and flavour whilst a unique number was assigned to each bake to provide anonymity for contestants.
After a long debate, the judges chose their top 3 entries to win the prizes of the bake off. In 1st place was Arif for his impressive Alien cake, 2nd place Leigh Ann and in 3rd place was Chelsea. The whole company showed their support with donations, coming together to try out the variety of cakes and mingle in support of Breast Cancer Now.
A big thanks goes to The Hope and Anchor Ross-On-Wye, The Engine Shed/The Garden Store and Ben Creese country butchers for their donations to support the cause.
Wear it Pink Day
On Friday, teams came together to dress in their best pink outfits for Wear it Pink Day with staff inventive in their displays of pink. It was great to see all the teams’ commitment to the cause and showing a united support for the events across both days.
Together as a company we managed raise a whopping £372! Our donation will help Breast Cancer Now with their mission to ensure that everyone diagnosed with breast cancer lives and is supported to live well by 2050.
A massive shout out to both Becki and Lucy, who without their organising and brainstorming this event would not have been possible. This fundraising event has strengthened our commitment to the community and making a positive impact within our environment.
